释义 | Aperiodic reduction in the value of a LIABILITY or ASSET, as in a decrease in the PRINCIPAL balance of a LOAN through repayments to the lender (or payments into a SINKING FUND), or a decrease in the value of a fixed asset through periodic deductions for DEPRECIATION. Amortization may be based on constant, increasing, or decreasing payments. See also ACCRETION, ACCRETION OF DISCOUNT.AMORTIZING SWAP An OVERTHECOUNTER SWAP featuring a NOTIONAL PRINCIPAL balance that amortizes, or declines, on a preset schedule or through the triggering of a market event (commonly the breaching of an INTEREST RATE level).
