A specific legacy is a gift of some ascertained item or thing forming part of the testator's estate that, by its description, is distinguished from the mass of his person- al estate. A general legacy is a gift that is not so separated from the general mass of the testator's personal estate; thus, a pecuniary lega- cy is a general legacy. A demonstrative legacy is a pecuniary legacy payable out of a particular fund. A gift of real property by will is referred to as a devise.
