释义 | poinding poinding (pronounced 'pinding') in the Scots law of DILIGENCE or legal enforcement, after a CHARGE has expired without payment, SHERIFF OFFICERS or MESSENGERS at arms will attend the debtor's premises and make up a schedule listing goods and valuing them to a sum suffi- cient to cover the debt expenses and the expenses of the poinding. If payment is not made, application is made to the court for a warrant to sell the goods. Certain household goods are excluded, as are tools of a trade and articles for the care and upbringing of children – food, beds and the like. Radical reform is planned by the Scottish Parlia- ment. |
