By statute, feu duties are disappearing as they now have to be paid off by paying a sum that would produce a similar income on a transfer, this process being known as redemption. They are thus not all extinguished, and there is in any event no obligation to redeem an unallocated part of a cumulo feu duty, thus in tenement buildings feu duties may still be payable although the present vassal may apply to allocate the duty and, once allocated, redeem it.
