video evidence
Evidence from witnesses provided on video, either by video recording or through live link. In civil proceedings, rules relating to the giving of evidence by live video link are set out in Part 32 of the Civil Procedure Rules; guidance on videoconferencing in civil proceedings is set out in the Practice Direction to Part 32 of the Rules. In criminal proceedings a special measures direction may permit a witness to give video-recorded evidence or evidence by means of a live television link. The Criminal Justice Act 2003 allows for the increased use of evidence through a live television link: relevant rules are set out in Part 29 of the Criminal Procedure Rules. |
