rejection of offer The refusal of an offer by the offeree. Once an offer has been rejected, it cannot subsequently be accepted by the offeree. A counter-offer ranks as a rejection (Hyde v Wrench (1840) 3 Beav 334), but a mere inquiry as to the possibility of varying some term does not (Stevenson, Jacques & Co v MacLean (1880) 5 QBD 346). See also lapse of offer; revocation of offer. |
