Office of Fair Trading (OFT) A public body established in 1973 to review the carrying on of commercial activities in the UK relating to the supply of goods or services to consumers and to identify monopolies and other anticompetitive practices. From 1 April 2003, as a result of the Enterprise Act 2002, the OFT was established on a statutory basis as a corporate body. Under the terms of the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013, it was replaced by a new body, the Competition and Markets Authority, in April 2014. |
