prescribed limit The maximum amount of alcohol a person is legally allowed to have in his blood if he is driving or in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or public place (R v Bolton Justices, ex p Khan [1999] Crim LR 912: see drunken driving). The level is currently fixed at 35 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, 107 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine, or 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood (there are different limits in Scotland). |
