Bar Council
(General Council of the Bar of England and Wales) The governing and representative body for barristers, both practising and non-practising. Since 2006 its regulatory functions have been discharged through the Bar Standards Board, a semi-independent body that issues a code of conduct to which all barristers are obliged to adhere, maintains standards within the Bar, and considers complaints against barristers.
