释义 |
registered design A design registered at the Designs Registry, which is part of the Intellectual Property Office (see patent). Registration gives monopoly rights over the outward appearance of an article, including its shape, configuration, pattern, or ornament, but not over the underlying idea. Works of sculpture, wall plaques, medals, and printed matter primarily of a literary or artistic character cannot be registered. Those wanting protection in the EU may also register a Community Design Right, which is a registered design providing protection throughout the EU (but not, since Brexit, in the UK). See also design right. |
