单词 extradition
释义

extradition
n. The surrender by one state to another of a person accused or convicted of committing an offence in the territorial jurisdiction of the latter, which being competent to try and punish him demands his surrender. Extradition from the UK relates to surrender to foreign states (compare fugitive offender) and is governed by the Extradition Act 2003 (as amended by the European Union (Future Relationship) Act 2020 and the Extradition (Provisional Arrest) Act 2020). There must be an extradition treaty between the UK and the state requiring the surrender. The offence alleged must be a crime in the UK as well as in the requesting state, it must be both covered by the treaty and within the list of extraditable offences contained in the Act itself, and it must not be of a political character. See also double criminality; European Arrest Warrant.
