Health and Wellbeing Boards New bodies established as part of the major restructuring of the National Health Service in April 2013. Every ‘upper-tier’ local authority is now required to establish a Health and Wellbeing Board to act as a forum for local commissioners in the NHS, as well as those in social care, public health, and other related services. The boards are intended to: increase democratic input into strategic decisions about health and social care services; strengthen working relationships between those involved in providing these services; and encourage integrated commissioning. |
