Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) A public body established in 2018 under the Policing and Crime Act 2017. The IOPC replaced the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) as the body responsible for the independent investigation of complaints made against the police. It has greater powers and is better resourced than its predecessor body, which was severely criticized by a parliamentary inquiry (2012) after a series of high-profile cases in which the police escaped censure. https://www.policeconduct.gov.uk/ • Website of the IOPC |
