(in civil proceedings) A written request made by a party under Part 18 of the Civil Procedure Rules seeking clarification or information in relation to a matter in dispute in the proceedings. A request should be concise and strictly confined to matters that are reasonably necessary and proportionate to enable that party to prepare his own case or to understand the case he has to meet. A court has the power under Part 18 of the Civil Procedure Rules to order a party to clarify any matter in dispute in the proceedings or to give additional information in relation to any such matter. |
