visual display unit (VDU) A computer screen. Under the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 (as amended) employees who regularly use a VDU for more than an hour at a time are entitled to risk assessments for computers used at work, free sight tests and footstools, and regular breaks from the screen. These benefits apply equally to employees who telework. The Regulations implemented the EU’s directive on visual display screen equipment (90/270). |
