oath of allegiance
An oath to be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Crown. It is taken by members of both Houses at the opening of every new Parliament, by certain officers of the Crown on their appointment, and by those who become British citizens, British Overseas Territories citizens, British Overseas citizens or British subjects by registration, or British citizens or British Overseas Territories citizens by naturalization. |
