Service Complaints Ombudsman An official, appointed by the Queen under the Service Complaints and Financial Assistance Act 2015, to provide independent and impartial scrutiny of the handling of a service complaint. The Ombudsman may refer a complaint to a relevant officer in the armed forces and can monitor and investigate the handling of complaints and their outcome. He or she reports to the Secretary of State and Parliament annually. The Ombudsman replaced the Service Complaints Commissioner with effect from 1 January 2016. |
