admissibility of evidence The principles determining whether or not particular items of evidence may be received by the court. The central principle of admissibility is relevance. All evidence that is sufficiently relevant is admissible and all that is not sufficiently relevant is inadmissible. However, evidence that is relevant may be inadmissible if it falls within the scope of one of the exclusionary rules of evidence. See also conditional admissibility; multiple admissibility. |
