Care Quality Commission for England
An independent body set up by the Health and Social Care Act 2008 to regulate health and adult social care services in England. The Commission took over the functions of three previously existing bodies: the Healthcare Commission; the Mental Health Act Commission; and the Commission for Social Care Inspection, all of which were abolished by the Act.
