n. (in family law) The opportunity for a child to communicate with a person with whom that child is not resident. The degree of contact may range from a telephone call to a long stay or even a visit abroad, and the court may formalize such arrangements by making a child arrangements order. The question of contact after a child has been adopted is a contentious issue. See also care contact order. |
