cannabis n. A drug obtained from the crushed leaves and flowers of the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa). Cannabis is defined as a controlled drug of Class B. Under the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Regulations 2018 the medical use of cannabis was legalized for those with “exceptional clinical need”. This has so far been taken to include people with epilepsy or suffering very severe effects from chemotherapy. The cannabis must be prescribed by a registered specialist doctor. |
