co-respondent n. Formerly, in a petition of divorce, the party with whom a married person was alleged to have committed adultery and who, if named, was normally made a party to divorce proceedings. The Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020 effectively renders the concept obsolete because it removes the inquiry into why the marriage irretrievably broke down. |
