economic loss The courts distinguish between financial or economic loss resulting from physical damage, which is generally recoverable, and pure economic loss, which does not result from personal injury or damage to property belonging to the claimant (Spartan Steel & Alloys v Martin & Co (Contractors) Ltd [1972] QB 27 (CA)). For pure economic loss the courts impose a much more limited duty of care. |
