family proceedings Proceedings in the Family Court, or the Family Division of the High Court. A Family Procedure Rule Committee was established in 2003 to lay down a single set of procedural rules, and in 2014 a single Family Court was created to hear family law matters at multiple locations. The Family Division of the High Court now transfers most of the more straightforward cases to the Family Court but continues to hear cases involving wards of court, cases with an international dimension, and more complex cases generally. It also hears appeals from the Family Court. |
