financial year 1. For corporation tax, the year from 1 April to 31 March. The financial year 2021 runs from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022. Corporation tax is levied for each financial year separately. If a company makes up its accounts for a period that spans two financial years, the profits arising in the company’s period of account must be split between the two financial years in order to ascertain the quantum of corporation tax that is payable.
