industrial injuries disablement benefit A pension or lump sum payable by the state to a person disabled by injury or a prescribed industrial disease sustained or contracted in the course of his employment. The amount of the benefit depends on the degree of disablement, which is medically assessed. To be entitled to the benefit, the disablement must be assessed as being at least 14% of total disability (or 1% in the case of some respiratory diseases and 20% for occupational deafness). The benefit is payable if the claimant is still suffering disability 15 weeks or more (or 90 days not including Sundays) after the date of the accident or onset of the disease. The assessment can be reviewed if the claimant’s condition changes. https://www.gov.uk/industrial-injuries-disablement-benefit • Information about industrial injuries disablement benefit from the GOV.UK website |
