reasonable financial provision Under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, the financial provision that the dependants of a deceased person can reasonably expect to receive from his estate. If the deceased’s will does not make such provision, and/or he dies intestate and the intestacy laws do not make such provision, the dependants may apply to the court for provision. A spouse or civil partner is entitled to reasonable financial provision even if he or she already has enough resources for maintenance; in all other cases, reasonable financial provision is limited to the amount required for maintenance. |
