inventory n. A detailed list of assets or property. A lease of furnished premises or a contract for the sale of chattels will usually contain an inventory from which the particular items can be identified. Under the Administration of Estates Act 1925 s 25 (as substituted by the Administration of Estates Act 1971 s 9), personal representatives must produce on oath an inventory of the deceased’s estate when called upon by the court (this duty is effectively discharged by lodging an HM Revenue and Customs account). |
