rule in Re Rose
The rule under which a gift is held to be effective where the donor has made every reasonable effort to divest himself of the property and to vest it in the donee, but the transfer has been left incomplete by the failure of a third party to perform certain legal formalities. The rule originated from the case Re Rose [1952] Ch 499. See also voluntary settlement.
