单词 Treasury Counsel
释义

Treasury Counsel
Advocates appointed by the Attorney General to undertake work for a number of government departments. They are appointed after open competition through advertisements in the national press. The Attorney General maintains four panels of junior counsel to undertake civil and EU work for the government. There are three London panels (A panel for senior juniors, B panel for middle juniors, and C panel for junior juniors) and a regional panel. The size of the panels is determined by need. Sitting above these panels are First Treasury Counsel who are the main advocates for the government in civil litigation affecting the Crown. First Treasury Counsel must do exclusively government work for the duration of their appointment.
