blacklist n. A list that contains details of members of trade unions, and in particular details of trade union activists, compiled with a view to being used by outside bodies, usually employers and their associations, for the purpose of discrimination in relation to the recruitment and treatment of workers. The utilization of such lists was made unlawful by the Employment Relations Act 1999 (Blacklists) Regulations 2010, which prohibits the compilation, use, sale, or supply of such lists for the purposes of recruitment and discriminatory treatment (see also Employment Relations Act 1999 s 3). |
