vexatious proceedings
Proceedings brought with no reasonable prospect of success and for the purpose of annoying the other party. A vexatious litigant is a person who has habitually and persistently and without any reasonable ground instituted vexatious civil proceedings, made vexatious applications in any civil proceedings, or instituted vexatious prosecutions. Under the Supreme Court Act 1981 the court has power, on an application by the Attorney General, to make a “civil proceedings order”, a “criminal proceedings order”, or an “all proceedings order” in respect of a vexatious litigant. A civil proceedings order or an all proceedings order prevents a vexatious litigant from instituting, continuing, or making an application in any civil proceedings covered by the order without permission of the court.
