Crown privilege
The right of the Crown to withhold documentary evidence in any legal proceedings on the grounds that its disclosure would injure the public interest. It was expressly preserved by the Crown Proceedings Act 1947 (see Crown proceedings) but has now been replaced by the doctrine of public interest immunity.
