单词 accessory
释义

accessory
n. 1. One who aids and abets or counsels or procures someone else to commit a crime. A secondary party to an offence—i.e. one who participates in it but does not bring about the actus reus directly—may still be regarded by the law as liable. Section 8 of the Accessories And Abettors Act 1861 (as amended by the Criminal Law Act 1977) states: “Whosoever shall aid, abet, counsel or procure the commission of any indictable offence…shall be liable to be tried, indicted and punished as the principal offender.” Similar provision is made in respect of summary offences under section 44 of the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1980. 2. One who knowingly assists a person who has committed an indictable offence with the intention of impeding apprehension or prosecution. For the mens rea element of an accessory, see R v Jogee [2016] UKSC 8, [2017] AC 387.
