释义 |
document n. Something that records or transmits information, typically in writing on paper. For the purposes of providing evidence to a court, documents include books, maps, plans, drawings, photographs, graphs, discs, tapes, soundtracks, and films (see also computer documents). Some legal documents are only valid if they meet certain requirements (see deed; will). Under Part 31 of the Civil Procedure Rules documents that are to be used in civil proceedings must be disclosed to the other party in a procedure known as disclosure and inspection of documents. In court, the original of a document should be produced in most cases (see best-evidence rule). Statements in public documents and records are generally admissible as an exception to the hearsay rule. |
