Dublin Convention A convention signed by EU member states in 1990; its purpose was to identify the member state responsible for examining an asylum claim by a non-EU national and more generally to prevent abuse of the asylum system. In general, any claim should be dealt with by the state through which the asylum seeker first entered the EU. The convention came into force for the original signatories in 1997 and is now consolidated into the Dublin II Regulation 343/2003. |
