Hague Conventions
The Hague Conventions for the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes: a series of international conventions on the laws of war (3 in 1899 and 13 in 1907). The 1899 Conventions established a Permanent Court of Arbitration, which was active before the Permanent Court of International Justice and the International Court of Justice functioned. The Hague Conventions are still in force but their provisions are often inapplicable to modern warfare. See also general participation clause; Geneva Conventions; Martens clause. |
