imputation of unchastity
A statement imputing unchastity or adultery to a woman or girl was formerly actionable whether or not it caused actual financial or material loss. The Defamation Act 2013, which now requires serious harm to the reputation of the claimant in all cases, also repealed the provision excepting such a slander from the need to prove special damage.
