释义 |
parental responsibility order An order made by a court conferring parental responsibility on an unmarried father/second female parent or a step-parent who is in a marriage or civil partnership with a parent. In determining whether or not to make such an order, the court must treat the child’s welfare as its paramount consideration. Courts will usually grant a parental responsibility order to a father who is able to demonstrate some degree of commitment and attachment to his child. It is rare for a court not to make an order and these will be cases where the father has behaved irresponsibly or would be likely to abuse parental responsibility if it were granted. A parental responsibility order may be revoked by a court. |
