previous statement
(in the law of evidence) The evidence of a statement made on a previous occasion by a witness giving evidence in proceedings. The Criminal Justice Act 2003 provides that a statement not made in oral evidence in the proceedings may be admissible as evidence of any matter states if the court is satisfied that it is in the interests of justice for it to be admissible.
