Discrimination on the grounds of colour, ethnicity, nationality or national origins, or race (R (E) v Governing Body of JFS [2009] UKSC 15; Mandla v Dowell Lee [1982] UKHL 7). The Equality Act 2010 prohibits direct discrimination, indirect discrimination, harassment, and victimization.

The functions of the Commission for Racial Equality were taken over in 2007 by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). Individual complaints in the field of employment are dealt with by employment tribunals, while other complaints are dealt with by specified county courts. See also racial hatred.
