释义 |
administrative tribunal A body established by or under Act of Parliament to decide claims and disputes arising in connection with the administration of legislative schemes, normally of a welfare or regulatory nature. The tribunals exist outside the ordinary courts of law, but their decisions are subject to judicial control by means of the doctrine of ultra vires and in cases of error of law on the face of the record. Under the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007 the jurisdictions of many existing tribunals (including the Lands Tribunal, the Immigration Appeal Tribunal, and the Special Commissioners of Income Tax) were transferred to two new bodies, the First-tier Tribunal and the Upper Tribunal. Compare domestic tribunal. See also Courts and Tribunals Service, HM. |
