Financial Reporting Council
(FRC) A UK body set up in 1990 to promote high standards of corporate governance and financial reporting and to encourage investment. To this end, it maintains and promotes the UK’s Corporate Governance Code and the Stewardship Code, which encourages engagement between investors and boards. It also issues standards for corporate reporting (see Financial Reporting Standards) and for audit and actuarial practice. Lastly, it oversees the regulatory activities of the actuarial profession and the professional accountancy bodies and operates independent enforcement arrangements for public interest cases. |
