relevance
(in the law of evidence) The relationship between two facts that renders one more or less probable from the existence of the other, either taken by itself or in connection with other facts. The fundamental rule of the law of evidence is that all evidence that is relevant is admissible, and all evidence that is irrelevant is inadmissible. However, even relevant evidence must be excluded if it falls within one of the exclusionary rules. |
