inadmissible reason (in employment law) Dismissal for an inadmissible reason is automatically unfair dismissal, and the employee may apply to an employment tribunal regardless of his length of continuous employment. Inadmissible or automatically unfair reasons include dismissal based on membership or participation in the activities of an independent trade union or a refusal to become or remain a member of a union. They also cover situations in which the employee has made a protected disclosure (see whistle-blowing) or has been dismissed for asserting certain statutory rights, such as the right to the national minimum wage or any protections under the Equality Act 2010.
