mental disability Under the Equality Act 2010 it is unlawful to discriminate against people with disabilities in a range of circumstances, including in education and employment. According to the definition in s 6 of the Act, a person with a mental health condition that has a “substantial and long-term” negative effect on his ability to perform normal daily activities is a disabled person. This would potentially cover many different types of condition, including dementia, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, and a tendency to self-harm.
