Statement of Objections In the EU, a document issued by the European Commission setting out the case against a business that has infringed the rules of competition law under Articles 101 and 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The statement will set a reasonable time limit for a reply, which can be extended (about 2–3 months is the usual period initially given). In the UK the Competition Act 1998 likewise empowers the Competition and Markets Authority to initiate proceedings for breach of UK competition law by way of issuing a Statement of Objections. |
