sub judice rule
n. 1. A rule limiting comment and disclosure relating to judicial proceedings, in order not to prejudge the issue or influence the jury. See contempt of court. 2. A parliamentary practice in which the Speaker prevents any reference in questions or debates to matters pending decision in court proceedings (civil or criminal). In the case of civil proceedings, he has power to waive the rule if a matter of national interest is involved. |
