expulsion n. In international law, the termination by a state of an alien’s legal entry and right to remain. This is often based upon the ground that the alien is considered undesirable or a threat to the state. Grounds for expulsion have included the following: conviction of a crime compromising public security; vagabondage; vice; disease; spying and political intrigue; resistance to the law; and abuse of the national flag.
