high hedges Where the owner or occupier of a domestic property believes that his reasonable enjoyment of that property is being adversely affected by a high hedge situated on land owned or occupied by another person, he may complain to the local authority under the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003 (s 65). A high hedge is one rising to a height of more than two metres. The local authority may issue a remedial notice, which may require the reduction of the hedge to two metres in height. The local authority may charge for this service. Neighbours are expected to try to resolve matters amicably before approaching the local authority, and frivolous or vexatious claims may be rejected. |
